Today, in the UK, we live in a multigendered, sexually and sociallyinclusive country where the freedom to be whoever you want to be — and to fancy whoever you want to fancy — is cherished and celebrated. This is not to deny the parallel reality of discrimination and oppression still experienced by many lgbt people, from subtle daily micro-aggressions to the more pernicious hate crimes perpetuated.
Our lexicon has expanded. Facebook now has 71 options to describe your gender. While not everyone’s chosen self-description, the word ‘queer’ has been reclaimed as a positive and inclusive term, representing a smorgasbord of identities. Sexuality, too, is viewed with more nuance. Fifty per cent of millennials don’t consider themselves straight and see gender and sexuality in shades of grey, not black and white.
What is your experience of your gender, your sexuality, sex and relationships? What choices have you made and what has informed those choices? Do you experience your gender and sexuality as biological? As socially constructed? As chosen? Are you monogamous, open or polyamorous? Are you Asexual or Demisexual?
Come and join us on this weekend exploring these and a myriad of other questions to do with the wild, wonderful and often challenging world of sex, sexuality and relationships. Join us under the multicoloured multi tonal rainbow and celebrate who you are in your full glory.
Date 18/19th May Saturday Sunday 10-4.30pm Cost: £150
